Spent half the day trying to dig out old clothesline poles from the back garden. Got two out, even if they were far too heavily concreted in. Third one was too deeply stuck so change of plan, I'll be growing a climber up it.
Decided to widen the border I've planted the hedge in so I actually have somewhere to stick all my wee plants and planked the spade into the old border edge the previous owner couldn't be bothered maintaining. 3 years and I never came close to finding those bricks before. Ouch,
Have had a cracking day in the garden with sunshine and temps up to 21C despite a breeze. Have cleared a semi circular bed of all the geranium phaeum and endressii which had thugged it to pieces, rescued a couple of hosta Gold Edger and.potted them up and 5 giant scabiuos babies. Forked over the bed and transplanted a prostrate golden conifer from the damp bed and planted 2 new blue ones and another bronze/gold one along with the chamywotsit that I transplanted there 2 weeks ago? Looks great now and just needs a mulch of chipped bark.
Thence to the bed above the terrace wall which is huge so started at the base and weeded my way up. Lots of bittercress, creeping buttercup, grass, sticky bud, nettles but loads less than last year so I'm winning. Pruned a buddleia and took cuttings and potted up lots of babies from a clump of centaurea which was riddled with nettles. Poted up 6 echinops ritro that had self seeded in the wrong place.
Have to agree with Busy about OHs and weeding. Mine only blitz weeds which means that for a while, till I banned him from my beds, I had the most expensive compost heap in Belgium.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

OH has been told, " if in doubt, leave it and ask" when weeding. Which is why he likes doing the paths, but I'm sure I had a Bowles golden sedge tucked into a corner of one path, which seems to have gone. Hey ho, lots more seedlings I can pop another in when he's not looking.
Weed sprayed the drive and parking area. Potted on 14 tomatoes. Planted some Forget-me-nots that were sitting forgotten in a tray. Weed sprayed some brambles that I thought I had dug up.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Far too hot to do any gardening today. I've had one of those days running around doing little errands for other people. The rest of the day is mine, sat by the pond watching the world go by. OH has gone out to get some fish & chips, so I don't even need to cook lunch. Bliss.
When it cools down though later in the week, time to seriously get going with the veg
When it warms up later in the week, time to seriously get going with my veg, Gemma! Drizzly and cold today in the Pennines but we're promised better by the weekend.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Sowed onion sets and covered my earlies to protect from frost.

24 Borage plants should be enough for one small bed, aye?
