SG - sounds like your undergardener needs to be given indoor jobs if he won't help outside - washing up, dusting, vaccing, ironing, cleaning loos - anything that leaves you the time and energy to do outside stuff.   You might find that motivates him to do heavy lifting for you.

I knocked the snow off the phormiums, hebes, conifers  and the fatsia.

Put endless amounts of food out for the blackbirds image

    Does that count? image

    Snow, eh?  Alright for some.

Pruned one-and-a-bit apple trees and attempted to dig up a couple of parsnips.  Soil was so wet that the fork had no purchase and just leaned backwards.  Fortunately I was able to pull them out.  Field/lawn flooded. image

Too wet to do any digging but put rotting onions in compost heap. Rhubarb still lying around since before xmas, can't replant with all the rain.

  • I might do some pottering today. Maybe dry off my arbor and have a brew outsideimage

Yesterday I potted on some primulas I had delivered earlier this week, elatior, muscarioides, candelabra and another kind. Attempted to layer some of my dogwood stems as I think I planted the original too close to the fenceimage

Nowt much else to do, just waiting on confirmation of an order of interesting perennials from a company I've not used before. Looking forward to thatimage
