A couple of hours of lovely sunshine here today so I cleared last year's dead growth from a patch of Japanese anemones and crocosmia.
Also went to a local independent mini garden centre and raided their Sales trolley. Bought two trays of trailing aubretia for 99p each (15p per plant) to go along the top of a new low wall beside the drive. They also had loads of primroses for 25p each but I need to work out where to put them before I buy any. (New garden resolution - don't buy stuff if you haven't planned where to put it!)
I am too excited. The weather the last two days has been lovely. I have my fingers crossed it stays that way. I have 4 days off work. A big pile of bulbs to plant. A new shiny incinerators to burn my hated crocosmia. And twitchy little gardening fingers.
wish I had your resolve Darl2 - I get seduced by plants and then have to find somewhere to put them - have masses of primroses 'cos when they're happy they selfseed, and they are just coming out now.
managed half an hour this morning before fingers were too cold, but enough to remove more dead montbretia foliage and a lot of moss and discover more snowdrops underneath - must remind myself to lift the remaining bulbs and only replant the big ones - wonder if the others would grow in my French garden?
another half hour this afternoon - but took a hot water bottle to revive my frozen tootsies.
A few inches of snow overnight so no gardening but OH has been out and cleared a path to the front door and also the garages as the doors wouldn't open this morning.
Since venturing out to give the birds an extra helping, I have taken refuge in the kitchen and am making soup and cakes whilst thinking about which veggies to grow in which bed this year. I still have some Savoy cabbages and kale out there so may pick some to have with our rogan josh for dinner.
If anyone's ready for a coffee break the cakes are banana, apple and pecan and a coconut, lemon and blueberry - for tomorrow's Boogie class.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Yes, I've been playing in the cold GH, which isn't cold today, lovely in the sun. Did a bit of watering while the forecast is for not too cold and some pricking out/potting on of tough stuff that was running out of pot space.
Yes a bit, got the last of the leeks out, picked the last few sprouts and put plants into compost bin and spread both beds with manure ready for the rain and the next frost to do its work and a bit of indoor plant watering
yes yes big tidy in the bottom garden .tubs and two beds . cleanded the chucks out .. fed and wartered . cold and sunny . top garden tomorrow and empty a compost bin . now footie ... COYB... with tea and shortbreadand a BEER
Yes I did but then I do a bit every day even if it only in the conservatory or kitchen. But today in the bright sunshine in Bristol I was up my butterfly garden smelling my hundreds of snowdrops which are in full flower now, removing brambles and some of the nettles, singing with the birds.

Bought some compost in anticipation of warmer weather. Removed diseased leaves from hellebore as they are now in fat bud.
