Spring's really bursting out here!  A lovely afternoon weeding, sitting watching insects nipping in and out of the plum blossom, talking to the robin, and enjoying the sights.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Hostafan 1 , just being nosey   What happened to sheep ? Very big freezer ?image

  • Went to beach with youngest daughter for coffee delighted in seeing crafty gulls pouncing on trays as soon as the owners took their eyes off themimageimage went to local store and she puchased multi coloured citronella candles and solar ball lanterns for her patio.image she is infectious and I got a candle(singularimage) hoping if I light it by my evening seat I won't get eaten by stealth bugs.image

Will have to get stuck in tomorrow cos all I've done at home is uncover seedlings check for watering then cover them up again.

The weather's been lovely here over the past few days so after a walk up to the allotment to water onions and shallots, I relaxed in the back garden, taking in the rays with a pile of gardening books.

I'm now trying to visualise the size of Hostafans lawn ,mine takes 5 mins to mow, 10 tops...image

Hi all. I have finally planted by climbing rose, a buddleja 'white profusion', campanula superba, tied my Canary bird rose to the obelisk, watched the mice that live under shed whilst watching the birds feeding ( I had my first blue tit in the garden today ???? - so happy).

OH fixed the decking, and I drenched the garden this evening. Oh and checked for Lilly beetles.

hostafans lawn isn't a lawn, it must be a field of a great size.

My lawns take about 4 hours by the time you've done the bank and the twiddly bits. Thank God for OH or I wouldn't have time for the weeding.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

The 5hr mowing is because his ride-on mower is a dinky toyimage

GWRS, the sheep were not ours. Usually the farmer brings one for the freezer in the Autumn as a thank  you for the use of the land, however none was forthcoming last year. GGGRRRRR.

Zoomer, we've about 3 or 4 acres of grass to cut.

Had a busy couple of weeks with school hols and all that, not gardening as such but have removed my sunny back patio to make room for the 6x4 plastic greenhouse my lovely daughters bought me.

I built a wooden frame for the base and the tubes are fixed down onto this with the plastic cover wrapped under the wood to the inside. It sits in a trench with soil filled in around the outside edges.

A little wooden path made from decking offcuts free from a neighbour and some extra shelving (a coverless 4 tier growhouse) and I'm all set for the summer.  image

Massive amount of mulching today, only got five and a half bags left, I started with 38 image

Planted area of part shade border with my Euphorbia purpurea x 3, Polemonium Bressingham Purple and Mexican Orange Blossom White Dazzler

Had to move a fern in the way image

That's that border finished, have one small corner in the middle garden plus the area of border in my purple and white garden and apart from pots, raised beds and finishing touches...I'll be done image
