Did a wee bit of weeding, started off with some easy bittercress and then warmed up to the buttercups and their yellow flowered friends
Wanted to make a list of my dahlias, to decide which ones to assign to pots this year but a blackbird has been in my shed all day, sat on the orange honka lump...I didn't want to bother it in case it crashed into the window
Looked through 3 new plant catalogues that turned up this week but couldn't see anything I liked, unusually for me...miss my summer garden
Planted some seeds for the propogator. Noticed the geraniums (pelargonium) seeds I planted only last week have started to germinate. Very exited as first time I've grown them from seed.
pruned back my raspberry bushes hard.
went to the paddock and got two wheel barrows of manure for the roses, rhubarb and strawberries.
Wrote up in garden journal and have decided to treat myself to a new rhubarb crown and also have a go at growing kale, cauliflower and parsnips this year.
Something different , the field the outsde of the stream at side of garden , has a bull , cows and calfs in regularly but today we have had 2 men using ferrits to catch rabbits , did this last year as well , wondered if there is a reason , other than rabbit to eat ?
GWRS - rabbit holes and mole runs are very dangerous for grazing stock which can twist, sprain or break an ankle if they step in one unawares. I hope the ferrets had a good time and caught a few for their own dinner.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Rain here too. Housework, plumbers here for a leaky loo and no 1 dog to the vet's cos she injured a paw running round the garden in the dark last night and is Hopalong Dog.

Tested the soil pH today. It's 7.5, so I'll have to do something about it around the apple and apricot trees. And the grapevine. And the vegetables and - just about everywhere, it seems, though I'm not that worried about the annual crops.
I planted Mammoth red and white onion seeds today. I also started to bring bulb pots onto the patio. I have a problem in that the biggest pots need a barrow, but its going to sink in the grass as its so soggy.

Planted a grape vine today. The ground was wet, but given the weather forecast I might not have got another chance for a long while.
