I think you're right about s.patens flowering earlier from seed, nut. Mine are the dark blue ones which do re-appear quite late and are often lucky to survive being 'trowelled to death' when I'm planting other things!. The lighter 'Cambridge' blue ones don't come back for me.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
I've tidied the veg plot and pulled off rotten leaves, weeded where I can reach without standing on the soil, and put my winter salad crops outside for a brief airing..it got to 25C in that GH with door and vents open. It's been a lovely day and I wish it was 8/3 not 8/2 4 Daleks turned pleased to see worms still alive and active.
Have been out and planted some lily bulbs today. Accidentally trod on my one and only flowering crocus and dead headed a hiding snowdrop whilst trying to recut back the hardy geraniums to show off my snowdrops. . All noticed a small but very pink bud on my prunus.
Yes, I've been in the garden for 4 hours today, lovely and sunny in lincolnshire. I'm trying to identify a shrub that I've killed, could anyone help please, it's the one on the right

Ground frozen. Fed birds, filled up bird baths, bought a double white hellebore for 4_99
Made soup with half a crown prince squash.
Was lovely today, I potted up the Lilies and bare root Viburnum I received yesterday.
Also potted up the Canna pieces that I seperated, the clump gets so big I end up chucking half of it away every year.
Ravomum, I think theres a tree peony in there. Mine has black leaves at the moment. Is that a summer picture?
Yes fidgetbones it is a summer picture, thank you
