All Toms & Aubergine gone into GH and wrapped up, they are growing too fast in conservatory..wish me luck! They should be okay and we have had some cold nights in conservatory and tonight should be mild.
Peppers and chillies still cosseted in the dining room, so a tray on my knee again tonight
Begonias put into their planters in GH as they now have six leaves each. Dahlia tubers are growing well in their new buckets in GH.
Lots of potting on to do tomorrow.
No coriander for the curry tonight as only 2 from 24 have germinated
Panic stations about sowing new herbs, thrown the old ones out today, I wanted a fresh start as they were woody and not too good last year. Still haven't sown my bunching spring onions in cells should have done them a month ago
Hi there well the weather turned out not too bad here in S.W. so I set to and dug out my pond after watching Monty Don. I need to tweak it a bit through the week but am pretty pleased with it so far.
Been in Vegetable garden last 2 days. Have done planting out of courgettes, cucumbers, butternut squash, lettuces, sweetcorn, runner beans, French beans, French marigolds and nasturtiums around edges and planted the half hardy annuals in the cut flower bed, which already had hardy annuals coming up. Planted the GH tomatoes, but not the outside ones yet.
Here are photos of cut flower bed (also has peas), bean patch; courgette, lettuce etc area. I use weed suppressant fabric, but still get weeds between - so looks a bit unattractive. I'm not the tidiest of gardeners! The bean poles with no plants have seeds planted.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Lovely afternoon. Cut grass, removed much too vigorous cotoneaster ('Queen of Carpets' I think) from bank, weeded celandine from the part of the garden where it doesn't look right, tidied the bark path again (thanks, blackbirds!).
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Didn't get much done today in the garden. Decided i had to get the kids out so went ten pin bowling, then a sneaky pop in the garden centre on the way home. Picked up some tarragon and oregano for herb patch which youngest helped to plant. A quick tend to the greenhouse, watering, checking etc, then catch up with house work before going back to work tomorrow.
Raining again now, which is fab for the allotment and the garden. Glad we've had some rain, won't have to water too much this week!
Need to get red onion sets in, planted cauliflower on Saturday. Got some lettuce ready to go in too.
Sweetcorn growing well in the GH along with cucumber, toms, calabrese, squash, pumpkin, leeks out in cold frame .
