Jan 1st planted in my propagator black Hungarian, Peru lemon, super, ohnivec, chocolate douglah and moruga scorpion chillies and urbikany tomato. All about 3/4 inches tall now, snug as bugs on the windowsills covered with plastic bags.
I also have 54 sweet peas poking their heads out (saved seed so interested to see the results) and I have sown 150 banana shallot seeds in modules but they take a while to get going.
Today I tidied up my two sheds ready for the season ahead and disinfected the poly tunnel. I can't do anything with the beds as they are frozen and half are still covered with snow - but it wont be long now!!
Given a drop of water to salad stuffs ,rocket and corn salad etc in GH and remained in there for a warm Replanted a few bulbs into bulb pots that the birds have pulled up in an area of the garden that has thawed Anyone would think I didn't feed the little beggars.
I went to my local community garden this morning where they always have a great selection of plants for sale. Found a pretty little twig in a pot with a couple of white bell shaped flowers just opening. The lady didn't know what it was and only wanted £2 for it. Brought it home and did a little research and found that it is Coryopsilis Paucifolia (I think). It's only a little thing at the moment but I'm sure it will be lovely when it grows up
-6C and sunny spells with snow. Definitely no gardening.
The plant sellers in the markets pack up and go on hols in January and won't be back till mid Feb. New perennials won't arrive in the garden centres till March.
No point starting seeds off yet as there isn't room in the greenhouse till I can take out the stuff that's hiding from the cold.
Thinking of moving a conifer when it's a bit warmer and might have to think about making some cold frames and I have metal obelisks to paint but first a nasty cough to shed so am staying tucked up.

how restrained you are Obelixx - even though I know the problems it is going to cause I got out my super seven seedtrays and set them up on the front room window sill. This has to have been my best buy ever - one long base tray, a raised platform covered in a loose sheet of capillary matting and seven quarter sized seed trays with domed lids. Then couldn't resist filling with compost and setting seeds...must contact my friend who runs a seedling B & B for me when I'm away to make sure she will be able to cope with all the stuff that will need looking after in March if everything grows!
Well the ground is still frozen hard so I can't do anything in the garden but it has been warmer today so with luck we might have a thaw coming. I have sown my sweet peas today and admired my heap of some lovely cow manure from one of my farming neighbours, not ready yet but it will be in autumn

Did a bit of digging (had removed some turf to extend a current bed).
Gave a little water to some of the really dry plants in the greenhouse.
Also watered the new tree while the sun was on it and not frozen.
I finally found some grit and put a layer on top of the waiting seeds.
I can't see anything of my snowflakes yet Yvie.
