LOL - Pays to write to Mrs Santa sometimes Dove. Like most women she actually reads what's on the wish list - rather than reading what she thinks is on the wish list
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
I bought a new super-duper bird feeding station yesterday and put it up in the garden. Does that count as gardening?
It's got a light dusting of snow on it this morning but no birds yet
Definitely gardening - you're encouraging birds to predate on all those aphids
And don't worry - they'll find it. Don't forget to sign up for the RSPB Big Great Garden Birdwatch - it's this weekend https://www.rspb.org.uk/birdwatch/
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Yes, Dove, that was one of the things that prompted me into action. Santa couldn't fit anymore in my stocking so no bird table at Xmas but we have an L shaped garden and the existing feeding station, that came with the house, can't be seen from where I like to sit. So rather than move it I decided to go for two . Hope the birds find it by the weekend!
Give them a soak in luke warm water to rehydrate them Busy and then plant them. You may only get leaves but at least they may live and flower next year.
The soil here is absolutely sodden so can't be worked so, as it's otherwise calm and not quite freezing, I've been out putting up the new windbreak mesh along the northwest fence to keep the gales from blasting my potager and all the lovely black and redcurrants and purple gooseberries planted along the back bed.
Had to stop as a tummy bug has hit but when that's done the next job will be more windbreak further along to protect my hamamelis and an osmanthus from both north westerly and easterly winds which hit that far corner with a vengeance.
Now I need to stay warm so will peruse the Plant World catalogue...............

Our with the heavy duty equipment again. A coppiced hazel cut back from a path, some bits of Cotoneaster frigida, numerous tree seedlings pulled, lots of raking up from the last few jobs, a viticella clematis cut back, maybe dead, looked a bit sorry last year and there is HF close by. A few more leaves of a few more hellebores and the whole lot through the shredder.
Had a lovely sunny day here in Dorset yesterday - so removed two of the oldest branches from my laburnum, pruned a beautiful hawthorn tree in our front garden and took bits off the malus. Great fun - but can't move today. Ouch! I'll never learn. Weather awful again today.

Sorry, didn't mean to sidetrack the gardening thread. When I get some photos I'll move over to the bird sightings thread
Glad you've just planted bluebell bulbs GG, because I've just found some, forgotten in a bag. They look OK, but I thought it was too late.
