  • My dog and I worked in the greenhouse, potting up more sprouting begonias.   I don't usually have the heater on during the day, but didn't have the heart to take it away from her!

Oh I'd love to get the lawns trimmed, not possible yet up here, too much frost around and very damp.

Had a quick look round the garden, pleased to see that my 'Snowflake' bulbs have sprouted.  Was a bit worried they wouldn't as I think they are part of the Snowdrop family and I know that are not so easy to grow from dry bulbs.

Some of my daffs now have proper buds, wont be long (excited smiley face)

  • Yesterday went to a potato day brought seed potatoes and some small bulbs in pots and seeds and trays, got to look around at plants stands did a seed swap and lots of gardening bits, when home I put my spuds into egg trays for chitting

Today got some seed trays in and seed compost to warm up and sorted my seeds out in boxes

No garden girl, snowdrops are Anaryllidaceae,

leucojum are liliaceae and usually sold as dry bulbs.

I'd be surprised to see them blooming at the same time

  • Today I've been at my other plot, trying to have a go at the gooseberries and getting nowhere image there is couch grass galore around them and I seriously think that the only way I'm getting in there is by a bloody good pruning image

soil too wet to remove couch grass roots so decided to make a proper start on the area for the chickens; we have dug trenches around where the frame for the run is going to be, so we can dig wire down, and levelled out the ground ready for the frame to go up, which hopefully will be next weekend image

  • No gardening today but I had a peep at the seeds sown on the 31st and the cantaloupe, pumpkin, sungold, black krim and salvia seeds have sprouted already. Buddleia also doing well.

Hi Nut and GG, at the moment I have snowdrops in bloom.  The snowflakes are just poking through the soil.  I marked them well so I'm sure that's what they are.  The snowflake leaves are similar to the snowdrop but much tougher looking.

Was planning on doing quite a bit in the garden today, but it's too frosty to walk on the lawn at the moment.  I have a tree to plant (Liquid Amber Slender Silhouette) and I haven't planted my Sweet Box yet, also have some Nerines to get in.  I did unpack the tree though if that counts.
