The dahlias are dwarf double so should be nice - if they survive!!! Don't know what possessed me to sow them so early!

Just had a quick walk round and checked the greenhouse.  Too cold for anything else.

Too cold, grey, wet and soggy for any gardening but my seed order from Chilterns has arrived so in the next week or two I can maybe start some chillies and toms indoors if the light levels improve.

after visit to hospital: I now have  a shiny new pair of crutches to get me around on holiday.

Came home and arranged seed spuds into egg boxes and instructed OH how to arrange them on trays on floor in unheated ( but frost free ) conservatory. Hopefully they'll be well underway when we get back in  a fortnight.

Bought the seed compost, nice lot of time to warm it before sowing.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • Does buying a couple of pots of lily of the valley count?
