Only looking today No.two son wanted the chairman s help laying the base for his new summer house what with that ,patio and decking the real garden is getting smaller only a postage stamp of grass and an inherited camelia to die for left came home to find Phil by the gate waiting for a feed not having any pets now it's lovely that the wild ones come up close.
Sitting in the conservatory amongst all the seedlings and tender pots listening to the rain pleased I sorted our the long bed yesterday it looks good from here
OH and I finished mulching the beds by the terrace. Shortly thereafter the clouds opened and delivered the most wonderful rain. I'm sure the rain did more good than we did.
started out cloudy but warm enough for shorts and a sweatshirt,
filled the new extended bed with compost/soil,
finished moving the herbs, i have attached 6x12inch terracotta pots to an old gate and mounted it on my garden wall, very pleased with it too
potted up the empty sage pot with some petunias and aquilegia
emptied the wormery of compost and put the worms back in with their new food for the summer, i'm not sure i can be bothered with it any more to be honest for what i get out of it per year
chopped my two new clematis down i bought yesterday and chopped two out the three in the garden down to first double shoot, they have been growing like mental but want some more shoots to come up from base.
really hot by this afternoon so factor 30 on and t-shirt took some cuttings from the chopped down clematis
planted my umbrella plant into a pot until i can find a space for it once the daffs & tulips have gone,
untangled the clematis i didn't chop as it has lots of shoots and spaced them out to grow sideways
did a lot of walking around looking for my trowel etc
checked my apple tree for greenfly/ants and so far so good after i sprayed them yesterday with soapy water with added chilli
gave the bamboo a good soaking in the mobile planters
all in all a good day, i'm just itching for the daffs and tulips to die off now so i can get planting out, i bought a cheap plastic cold frame/greenhouse for £11.99 and it's actually pretty good, it's just the job for hardening off my little pereninals and seedlings
Rained this morning, quite heavy at times. Potted up tomatoes in the GH.
This afternoon the sun came out. Finished the middle bed at last.
Photos taken on 28th March, 14th April and 25th April. Meant to try posting them last first as they always come out back to front, but then I forgot, so they are bound to be back to front!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Went to Beetham GC today, would recommend a visit if you are ever in the area, it's not far from Leven's Hall which is worth a trip to see the topiary. Had lunch and bought a tom plant, herbs and 6 dahlia's.

In and out most all day. Digging, weeding, snipping and moving. Feels good.

Pricked-out about 300 seedlings today - not exactly hard work but concentrating on not damaging those tiny babies has made me feel pretty tired!

Oh bother, last 2 aren't there, but they are really the first 2.
That's strange, they are there now!
