Not bad in the cold GH sowed the final lot of cold germinating seeds from HPS. Some of these would have been better sown in autumn but you can't sow them if you haven't got them
6 varieties of bare root hostas turned up today so I braved the elements down to the potting shed & potted them up. The Geranium Palmatum seedlings received and potted up about 3 weeks ago are doing well (considering the compost has been frozen several times) - I just love those plants - they look tender, exotic & really quite tropical but are actually pretty tough - and evergreen to boot. They can be quite short lived (abt 2 - 3 years) but are easily propagated from seed. I am planning a nice large patch of them this year.
Other than that - filled the bird feeders and got some logs in. Fire now lit - sitting room nice & snug.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Charlie where do you get your mealworms from? I've been thinking about "treating" myself to a mealworm subscription but I really don't know how much you need, or how often. I think the robin that lives here would eat them til he exploded!
Bought first earlies, Sharpes Express to-day. Set them to chit in egg boxes in a cold room(every room is cold in this wind). roll on march till we plant them.
I was far too early and put some seeds in a couple of weeks ago. I've now got lots of dahlia seedlings coming up. The greenhouse is unheated so they look like staying on the kitchen windowsill and me crossing my fingers!
Been cleaning greenhouse glass today. It were covered in snow, so i let my dad clean the snow off it , a quick prod with a piece of wood caused an avalanche him covered in snow I honestly weren't laughing while I was watching through the window .
I hope you got a lot of space Janet 2 for your Dahlias they can get pretty big quick depending on variety.
It is so hard to resist sowing seeds, isn't it? I know just how you feel. Which dahlia seeds have you got? Last year I went for Dandy (Collarettes), sown in March, and everything grew, and they have produced good tubers, so this year I will be inundated with them. I have been trying to upload a photo of their flowers to show you, but there is a problem with the site. Maybe I can put it up later.
My gardening today consisted of potting up 8 sprouting cascading begonias, and 6 newly purchased speedplugs. Not much, but good to get them started.

In the sticks near Peterborough
Put together a 7' obelisk for my jasmine if that counts. Haven't been outside though assembled it in the conservatory.
Last time I checked it was 3 inches of snow out there. The only gardening going on here is filling up the bird feeders!
