I know I said I'd be sure to see partridges on my way to see the Aged Ps today, but I didn't
BUT
on the way home there was a Common Buzzard perched on top of an old elder bush right at the side of the road - such a clear view - I could see all the wonderfully marked breast feathers - I was following a tractor so going slowly and the buzzard didn't seem at all perturbed by the traffic.
AND
after visiting my Aged Ps I sat in the car at the harbour mouth for a while, watching the Herring gulls, Black-headed gulls and Turnstones when suddenly I saw a seal breaking the surface of the water, looking about him and heading on out to sea.
Not a bad day's Nature-watching

Specially for Beaus Mum. This little wren came inside our cabin and was pointed out by my little dog. They flit along very close to the ground, look just like a mouse at times, and I was having great difficulty finding this little one, but thanks to my dog I could catch it with a feather duster. It stayed where I put it outside long enough for me to get this photo. They are so sweet, and so proud and noisy during the breeding season!
The thrushes must have been listening to me the other day saying I hadn't seen any since I moved in here 2 years ago. Looked out the window yesterday morning - and there was a thrush hopping across to the food and apples and tucking in
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I did my RSPB Garden Birdwatch count this morning between 9.30 and 10.30 this morning. I saw
Robin 1
Jay 1
Blackbird 1
Starling 1
Goldfinch 8
Woodpigeon 2
Collared dove 1
Blue tit 2
Great tit 1
Coal tit 1
The wren and dunnock didn't make an appearance and neither did the house sparrows, all of whom are fairly regular attenders, and usually there would be 3 collared doves and several starlings.
While I watched I saw the pair of bluetits inspecting the nest box

Nothing exciting here, a couple of wood pidgeons squabbling....boring!
