My end of season chrysanthemum bargain, reduced from £10 to £5 per pot , has just arrived. They are magnificent in white, yellow, pink and purple, covered in hundreds of tight buds and now having a drink after their travels in the post. I will post pictures of tem in flower. They will be bringing lots of colour to my autumn garden. Here is what caught my
Well the predicted rain must have happened over night. There was a whole half mil in the gauge. It was just enough to leave puddles on the tarpaulin which is covering the firewood. So much for their major rain event predicted! I've just been out and hosed veg and flower beds and left the soaker hoses going for a while.
Chives in miniature rose pots are beginning to respond to their new site on East (protected) side of house.
Some little white violets making an appearance
The little dwarf daffodils are flourishing
A self seeded Grevillea
This is the culprit that is sending babies everywhere - Grevillea wilkinsonii (Tumut Grevillea). I've transplanted 14 babies so far to other sites. It's supposed to be endangered, but I find it hard to believe, the way it self seeds everywhere.
Grevillea australis. this one smells overpoweringly of honey when you walk near it. The flowers and leaves are very small
Hi Pat and morning Marion just woken up to more rain : ( it's none stop in the NW, loving your pictures, my favourite is the last one with all the yellow flowers, it reminds me of my tree in spring gorgeous, it's my hubbies Birthday today, he's at work so going to sneak out and pick his cake up : ) I like make it special : )
Have a happy birthday, flumpy's husband! I am sure you will make it special, flumpy. Flumpy has too much rain and Pat not enough! Really hot already in Bristol and forecast is 25 which is too hot for me to work in so i will be haaving a lazy day. My new chrysanthemums are begining to open their buds. I will bring them indoors if the storm hits us. Do not want them battered. The September issue of Gardeners World arrived yesterday so I shall read that.and perhaps take a few pictures. We have grevilleas in the Botanic Garden in Bristol. Pat and of course acacias. Both grow outside. I prefer the dwarf daffodils too as the tall ones often get laid flat on windy days.
