Thanks Marion we have plenty charity shops around here, I will have a look on my dinner tomorrow, I hope the weather stays fine for you Marion tomorrow and keep wrapped up warm, off to bed now night night God bless : )
You are a night owl. flumpy! I am sound asleep by eleven most nights! A shock to the system today as it was only 2 degrees at 7o'clock! Definitely back into my gardening coat today. Some days last week i was gardening in Tshirt and jeans. But the fleecy trousers are back on this morning. The sun is shining brightly however and no rain forecast for Bristol today, just cold.
My goodness that cold gets to me now. I have only done an hour and had to come in for a coffee, but no new plantings seem to be affected by it though I have been careful not to put anything tender out despite the warm weather. Lots of dandelions with clocks on already! But the astonishing thing is that my weigelas (three very large ones) are covered in buds and some of the buds have opened. I rely on them for shrubs in flower in July usually. They were pretty early last year and I had twl flowerings in the one year so perhaps the same will happen this year.
Well Marion, I started watching Poldark and fell asleep the woke at 11pm and went to bed ha, my husband woke me. You keep wrapped up wa Marion and keep up the good work: )
Oh my goodness you must have been really tired to fall asleep at Poldark! I know I may be unusual in that I watch is so critically, shouting at the TV when the cameraman shows a Naturalised plant that I know had not reached Cornwall in those days, but it was almost like a melodrama last night! Had a good lunch so now going out to fill my daily basket of weeds for the green wheeliebin.
Well thankfully I've recorded it , not liking the look of the weather tomorrow, the sky as just gone really dark grey, we've been spoilt for the last few weeks, did you have frost this am in Bristol?, my car was white with frost Thankfully the sun melted it before I set off to work
It was only 2degrees but did not see any frost. I am afraid the weather is going downhill for a bit. It was quite cold working out in the garden today despite the sunshine so I wore my gardening coat.
I will need that coat on again today as still chilly though sunny and dry. It is warmer working outside than staying in the house however. My hands are so cold typing this even with a mug of tea beside me Nights are going to be warmer for the rest of the week so perhaps the threat of frost is receding. My friend sent me emails of his salsify which closes up at noon and his yellow tulips with the wrong label which were supposed to be red. They are lovely but spoiled his colour scheme of purple and red this year.
Bristol Tool Co. got my replacement bolt (to replace the one with a dodgy thread) for my wheelbarrow in the post this morning so have been enjoying myself trundling up and down my paths with heavy pots . My scented geranium is smelling terrific now as I take off its withered leaves ready to put it out in the garden after threat of frost gone. The cosmos seeds I sowed on Saturday are up and very good germination percentage. All things growing apace despite the cold. Lovely sunshine today.
Quite a puddle outside the kitchen door this morning but it is forecast for the rain to clear away to the east this morning and it is looking brighter already which is good as I have a garden party to go to this afternoon for two charities. Still feels cold but have not been as unfortunate as my daughterin Ballymena who has lost all her tomato plants to frost. We will all have to look out on Thursday night as frost is forecastfor the whole country then.
