Yes there is a extra stalk growing from the bottom, I got the Hosta for £2 at Morrisons garden section, I've not planted it as we are still getting frost, my car was white early this am, but thankfully the sun is coming up earlier.
I am planning on potting up my three large perennials I bought on Saturday and taking them up to the potager to help decorate it. Then on Wednesday I hope to find places for my six sempervivums. We have a plant sale for the group funds at the AGm of the Alpine Gardening Society on Friday so will see what I can find for that too. Busy time in the garden but in good weather like this there is nowhere I would rather be. I may even start tidying up my patios and seating areas for my open day in May.
Cloudier and cooler this morning but still dry and promises to be a good gardening day. I may take all the gazanias out of the cold frame now they are showing new growth and put lots of things from the conservatory to harden off. This should make more room for more seed sowing in there.
Potted on my new perennials and my small shrub I bought on Saturday and decorated one corner of the potager with them and three other I brought on from small plants I bought last year - Centaurea montana "Jordy" Dark Plum heuchera and a dark flowered sedum spectabile. The first flowers of the white Spanish bluebells are opening and the perfume from my amelanchier flowers is lovely even though only three have opened so far. Too bright to take pics at moment and getting quite warm.
Really nice pictures Marion, the colours are so vivid , it's been sunny here but a slight cool breeze, can't wait for weekend, I'm going to sort my planters out ready to put Osteospermums in , they will look lovely when they start to flower all summer long
The sun is clearing away the fog we had in Bristol this morning so should be out in the garden soon. The mid season tulips are opening up now so the colour schem is changing. Bluebells opening up as well. More tidying in the potager today and planting out the tallest of the broad bean plants I grew from the seed I saved from last year's monster crop.
Oh such warm weather today again. I did manage to pot up 15 Oriental poppies which were part of Mr. Fothergill's trials last year - seeds sown end of August. Still have lots of aquilegia to pot up but the other four perennials did not make it through the winter except perhaps the aubtieta which is struggling still. I found three nice terracotta pots for three of my sempervivums. Will search for another three in the conservatory. All my tomato varieties had good germination so can now come out of the propagator and leave room for more seed sowing.
Another lovely day for gardening and set fair for quite a few days. More bluebells out this morning and mid season tulips. Thank goodness all my five waterbutts got filled up through the winter as it looks like a lot of my new plantings are going to need watering by me till the rain comes.

Yes they will, frumpy. My friend has just sent me a picture of his latest tulip to flower called " Helmar".
