Hello , bit windy but dry so had a day at allottment , hope you are keeping well

I trust the shopping came on time image

  • Gale force winds here, even the washing blew off the line......nice and muddy now!

In the end I didn't venture out to do any gardening jobs, a bit of cooking and seed sorting in readiness for starting Winter Sowing at the end of Dec instead.

Love seeing all the xmas items in the shops, it seems so colourful and brightens the shelves up no end!

Looking forward to your new thread Marion.

Hi Marion, have you thought about what your going to call your new thread?

I think something along the lines of "2016 - my new perfume garden and onwards.".  There will be so much that is new in my garden next year that I am looking forward to writing and photographing it immensely.  The bulbs promise to be sensational for a start and all my new perennials.  GWRS the great delivery day is today - some things like the groceries I only ordered yesterday.  We have another yellow warning of strong winds again today, flowers, so I am not likely to be out in the garden - too dangerous when a huge bramley or a hunk of tree could fall on you.  It is also very wet and still raining but very mild so I have switched off the heating.  I bet the climate change talks in Paris will fail to mention how much fuel could be saved if people went back to doing things by hand or at least body power.  Gardeners could do without things like lawns that need lawnmowers.  Just think of the carbon emitted by the factories that make those.  Long grass full of wild flowers that can be cut by the kitchen scissors appeals much more to me!

Morning Marion, I have two days off doing Xmas shopping and putting the Xmas tree up : ).

You was talking about man power, my dad still uses his old lawn mower which only needs man power, it's quite heavy.

I bet you can't wait for your plants to come!, it's exciting isn't it : ), looking forward to seeing all your photos next spring.

HappyMarions perfumed garden 2016, what do you think : )

That sounds good, flumpy - implies my new perfume garden will perfume the whole half acre!  Which it might do actually!  I already have a lot of herbs that perfume the potager where I grow my vegetables and lavender in large pots all round the garden as well as rosemary in lots of corners.

I managed to get up the garden to inspect before the rain started again.  No damage done but lots of winter honeysuckle in flower!  Also loads of new strawberry flowers but they will not come to anything.  If i did not have loads of frozen strawberries still to eat i would have brought the plants into the conservatory for winter strawberries!Out would come the paint brush to hand pollinate them.  i have done it a few years back and it is great fun.
