It has lost its label, Busy-Lizzie and was bought by my neighbour  but of course I welcomed it in when it invaded.  It likes to face south west which is my side of the fence rather than north east which is his.

Very wet in the garden this morning again.  we seem to have had quite a lot of rain in the night.  We also have a Met office warning for gales and heavy rain from four this afternoon so any work outside will have to be this morning.  It is calm and bright and dry at the moment.  Planting here I come.

So pleased to see my black elder is thriving and has lots of sprays of its pretty pink flowers coming.  I bought it last year at the hill Close Heritage gardens in Warwick where I was pleased to see the garden that Monty Don rescued in the early 90's is being well looked after and used by local tenants in the council flats. Well done to the volunteers who sell their cuttings for the gardens funds.

Very wet indeed in the garden this morning  but I have not ventured out in the drizzle and wind yet to see if any damage has been caused.  all looks secure from the house.  I expect there are a good few apples and pears strewn around though. The weather is supposed to be drier and brighter from lunchtime..

Oh my goodness my pink rhododendron just loved all the rain last night.  It has never had such big flowers before.

Tour of inspection done and no damage apart from one tall sunflower stem snapped where it was tied to its bamboo cane.  But have loads so can replace it.  Potatoes nearly ready to harvest so soon have delicious new potatoes and potato salads to eat, especially as lots of herbs need using too and some will have to be harvested to go into the freezer.

The wind is much lighter now and the rain has stopped so perhaps tomorrow will be a gardening day again.  I swear I get withdrawal symptoms when I cannot garden because of the wind.

Beautiful day out and temperature set to reach 15 by the afternoon so great hopes for lots of gardening.  Lots of twigs off the trees to pick up and the weeds have loved the rain recently as much as the rhododendrons.  Lots of room in the green wheeliebin so can't wait to get started.  A quick safari for any damage and none found.  Mr. Fothergills trial antirhinums from last year are flowering again - called "Purple Twist" this really is a hardy and very long flowering variety.  There are lots of luscious tops on the broad beans which are covered in flowers now so I will start having the tops for greens with my supper.

Relieved to see my fruit is fine after the storm.  I am amazed at how many plants look as if nothing untoward has happened at all.
