Good Morning Pat hope that your day will be a lot nicer that the one I've just had , rain, rain and.......................more rain, almost non-stop!! Looking forward to your photos.
Thanks Flowers. I'm sick in bed at the moment, so don't hold your breath! I'll get to it, maybe later in the day. Managed to catch Hubby's gastric/vomiting bug!
Yes you have to starve the bugs to get rid of them Pat - for at least 24 hours. We have a lovely day in Bristol and not a puddle in sight in the garden so the soakaway has managed to cope with all the extra surface water. My new border should be easy to dig now so should be able to dig up a few dozen blackberry roots and get rid of miles of bindweed today plus harvesting of course. Freezers are getting a bit stuffed now.
GWRS my FB friend Philip Orley has three explanations for the state of your dahlias. He says either this one in the picture has flowered and that is the seedpod forming, or the flower has rotted with the rain followed by humid weather or it has had a high nitrogen feed when it did not need it. Tomato food is low in nitrogen should any flowers need feeding. I favour the weather explanation myself but you did say you are away a lot from your garden so perhaps you did miss this one flowering.
Brilliant sunshine but the heavens opened. Never sen such straight down rain too. Luckily I had come indoors or I would have been soaked. Such a nose on the garden umbrella and conservatory roof too. Duckpond forming very quickly.
