I hope you find something nice to grow in the garden centre flumpy. I know I get great pleasure from trying somethng new.so it will be a case of weeding and planting when I can I hope you are fit and well again Pat and are able to get out in your spring garden. The weather has changed again in Bristol. I am typing this wearing cardigan on top of my Tshirt. We had some rain through the night and more is forecast with top temp. at 3pm of 16 degrees. Not at all like the sunny days we have been having recently. But it is Sunday and Bank Holiday so visitors may arrive so baking and tidying the house are on the cards. I have defrosted a large chicken to roast.
i will have a good look round at the garden centre, I would like to try at Dahlias again next year but we will see, I've got my own sweet pea seeds now, do I leave them in the pods and let them dry out?, and do I just keep them in the house?.
hope you have plenty visitors Marion and have a lovely day
Pat hope your feeling stronger and the bug as gone? You could do with some of Marion's roast chicken, full of protein , hope it's sunny for you so you can sit outside in the bench and get some fresh air
Thanks Marion and Flumpy for your good wishes. I'm now on day 5 and not very happy yet. Slowly having a bit of food. As far as weather is concerned, we're experiencing what the weather man described as a "polar blast" . I suppose I should be glad that I'm unable to do much outside yet. Finding the whole thing b....y boring And unpleasant.
Yes! However, the final of the voice is just starting, so that'll occupy us for two hours. We've got Jessie J, Ricky Martin, Delta Goodrum and the twins from Good Charlotte for mentors.
Those Gazanias have been brilliant Marion, and all those lovely apples, something I cant grow up here, those yellow Monbretias are lovely, I bought a pot full last year and took seeds, they strike very easy and now have lots for next year. Makes a nice change from the common orange ones that grow wild.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

Oh such a wet dark morning. Bank holiday Monday is a wash-out, The kitchen patio has turned into a duckpond and we have heavy steady rain. I can see me sorting out all my freebie seed packets today and trying to make a start on the conservatory to get it ready for the tender occupants coming in in October. The forecast is not very good for the rest of the week with cold nights. I do hope the weather improves for Sept 19th when we have the Bristol Group of the Alpine Gardening Society Annual Conference. This year we have Jim Almond giving a talk called "Sowing, Growing and Showing"; Diane Clement on "Hepaticas a growing obsession", Christine Skelmersdale on "Creative Gardening with bulbs" and "Steppes in the Snowmelt" by Bob and Rannveig Wallis. Next weekend too needs good weather for the Bee Festival at the Bristol Botanic Garden. I hope many of you saw James Wong in the Bristol Zoo Gardens last Friday on Gardeners World. I know those gardens well as the RHS used to have lectures there and I took my children and grandchildren there often. The gardens are superb.
