Do you have foxes or badgers in your garden or in the vicinity that you know of. flumpy1?  If rats are digging holes near to your house that is worrying.  Make sure they cannot get in by air grills.  The shape of the hole should identify the culprit.  Rats make round holes. foxes have a scrape on one side like dogs do digging up bones, badgers make tunnels.  Nice you have a Bristol connection.  I have not met any Horrocks here.  Fairly common name though.

Still quite cold this morning with a white frost slowly disappearing but quieter with no wind howling down the chimney so hope to get out filling up the wheeliebin again today.

The Horrocks unfortunately didn't have any children and they never did leave a will so the estate went to my Grandad and his brothers.

my neighbor who's loves to feed lots of birds and I mean every bird food, the only problem is she's attracting rats, she said she won't stop feeding the birds.

i did have bird food in my tree but my husband noticed a rat nicking the fat balls from the tree, so I've stopped putting them out, but this week my chive plant disappeared and I've been left with a big smooth hole, so I'm going to fill it today and check my air vent too, ho they are horrible! image

Just be sure you never get cornered by a rat in your garden.  They do bite if cornered, flumpy1.  I think i would be tempted to get in pest control.  They do bring in horrible diseases to gardens.

Cld outside today but the green wheeliebin is half full again and I feel invigorated after having the fresh air.  More crocuses showing and a few early daffodils have buds.  Polyanthus and primroses flowering in all the nooks and crannies too.

Thanks for your good advice Marion, think I will ring pest control on Monday, yes it was dry here in the NW but very cold, it's meant to get warmer tomorrow... Well slightly image

A foggy day in Bristol Town and so very cold again.  We do have a Berkely Square but I doubt anyone's stretch of the imagination could hear a nightingale singing in it despite its beautiful trees and houses.  I think i will confine my gardening to the conservatory and hope I can go on safari round my garden with my camera in the afternoon.

Yes it's very foggy here too Marion and cold, I'm hoping too that it will brighten up later because the weather man said Sunday will be the best day image Hopefully, I'm itching to Get in the garden, I cleared twigs and filled the hole in yesterday but took photoessays of that rat hole so I can show pest control, my curly Kale have survived winter and looking healthy image

Kale is a great veg, to grow. Very healthy too   It needs more cooking time than cabbage or cauliflower but makes great soup.  The sun has come out now so fog all gone but still very cold.  Only 4maximum forecast for Bristol today.  Real runny nose weather.  I have watered the conservatory plants that needed it very sparingly and deadheaded the pelargoniums.  Blossom is coming on my peach tree and fig leaves are emerging so longer daylight hours are waking everything up.

It's still thick fog here image, can you deadhead chrysanthemums ?

Yes, of course.  Tidy them up.  I have been playing indoors as it is so very cold outside,  My Ducky and Munakuppi (hair growing kit, present from Mr. Fothergill at Xmas ) have been having a conversation.

Ducky:  I see you have no hair.  Why do you not ask Marion to knit you a woolly hat like mine?

Munakuppi: Marion has just managed to unpack me and says she will grow me some hair but it has to be short first as she can eat basil.  Then she will grow me long hair from the grass seed and plait it so she can pretend I am Bob Flowerdew and ask me questions.

Ducky: Trust Marion to have her hair and eat it!  See you in seven days.
