Marginally less cold today so have finished the house chores and ready to go out in the garden. I noticed the orange and brown crocuses yesterday so it looks like the other will be out in time for St. Valentine's day. I have big spreads of purple and blue ones and a few white. The orange ones always show first.
White frost again this morning . 4 degrees promised by the weathermen but not till 3pm and then only for an hour so doubt I. will be attempting any gardening outside today despite the lure of an empty green wheeliebin and bright sunshine. I can see by the trailing smoke from one of my neighbour's chimneys that the wind is north easterly today so it must be bitter out there. Supposed to be better tomorrow and for next week. In the meantime my friend has warmed me with pics of his beautiful amaryllis "Carmen" this morning. I will download them and post them for everyone to warm there hands.
My goodness that is a bitter wind today. I spent about 20 minutes out in it but it was too much for my nose, hands and feet so only managed to sweep the frosted leaves off a few hundred yards of paths.
I walked up to the shops earlier and it was like a military operation- list, hat, gloves, carrier bags. Even my cat won't go outside when it's this cold!
Marion your flowers look lovely and big too, it's slightly warmer today and no Jack Frost this morning, had enough of scraping windows this week , went to my mums cousins funeral Tuesday very sad, but met a lot of people afterwards I've never seen, also found out my grandads brother was married to a lady in Bristol surname Horrocks, when they both past away the Estate was sold and the money went to my grandad and brothers , I'm going to try and find out more.
i had a walk around my garden yesterday and to my horror found my chive plant had disappeared and there was just a big hole Leading under my decking! Do rats dig holes that big?

as I was coming back from aldi with my new trees, I noticed the daffodils by the ford are only a couple of days from opening
Wowee daffodils for St. Valentine's day!
I find the yellow crocus seem to be pecked by the sparrows. They seem to leave the purple hues alone.

Amaryllis "Carmen" whose pic
ture does not do her justice as she is a very dark red with black inner markings.
Amaryllis looks nice
