  • Good morning Marion,

thanks , I like putting names to plant faces....I'm hopeless at names at the best of times, but I'm learning.

Have a good day, have you made any plans for today?

You too Snow.  I do have a very large winter jasmine in the front garden now flowering and smaller ones in the back from cuttings.  That pink rose is a very old Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother rose .  I have eight of them and often pick flowers at Xmas.  It is warmer today in Bristol and very sunny.

My goodness it goes dark quickly and feels cold when the sun goes behind a cloud!  Time for a hot cup of tea.  The daffodils, tulips, crocuses and chionadoxa my friend gave me are all planted now and I moved one shrub and weeded about a couple of metres of chippings path.  Conservatory plants all deadheaded and necessary watering attended to.  None of my birds made an appearance but when I was picking up Bramleys in the spinney I found out why when the fox emerged and fled.

Very mild this morning and dry so should get a lot of work done before it gets dark.  I may start planting my new tulips in pots which will entail emptying out the spent summer plants in them.  I can see the flower vases all full in the house by this evening as lots are still flowering.

Yes, GWRS, I need to put a layer of grit or chicken wire over the top of my tulips in pots as I have loads of nut trees which the squirrels adore.  You sould like you are getting on with a good winter tidy in the allotment.  Hope the mist clears nice and early for you.

Garden a bit damp this morning but dry weather forecast for us for today so should be able to do a bit more than yesterday when I did not get round to planting tulips so no flowers in the vases yet and the mild weather is set to continue so they could be left in the garden to bloom for some more days.

You are very much like me - when it rains too hard I harvest a load of veg quickly and come into the kitchen and make a huge pot of soup for freezing for when i am too whacked to cook!  Never a minute wasted during the daylight hours.  I am expecting the parcel post with some new plants so have just come in for a quick coffee after filling the green wheeliebin and starting to put well rotted farmyard manure on the potager beds I have harvested from.  It is very mild and the sun is shining, mostly blue sky with a few balls of cottonwool clouds.  It is definitely a singing day out in my garden.  Will take the camera out later.
