Hi all. Marion, I knew I should recognise the red leaves. I have/had one behind the house, but think it has gone the way of many plants that don't like our extremes. I agree the flowers are spectacular.  Mine might make another appearance this summer. I'll have to wait and see.

  • Splendid gardening weather so all systems go here.  Only another 80 spring bedding plugs to pot up then that job is finished.  Fifth windowsill in conservatory is now full up.

  • Yes all the bedding plants are going in my Persian Runner - a long border up the centre of the middle part of my huge garden.  I still have to clear it as the quaking grass that seeded last year turned it into a prairie garden this year.  Looked lovely on windy days when in flower though.  Bringing up seven children and helping with seven grandchildren has kept me very active, Gertie Grass.  Plus playing hockey in my twenties, Keep-Fit to music in my fifties and a love of gardening all my life since my infant teacher showed me how to grow cress on a saucer on a windowsill.

  • Half an acre site including the bungalow,GG.  I have it split up into different rooms including a scree. fernery, bamboo grove, woodland walk, Persian carpet, potager, butterfly garden, spinney and now am making a perfume garden and just finishing off a bog garden.  The conservatory for my tender plants is attached to the lounge so i can garden in the winter without braving the elements.  I have lots of interesting trees including a eucalyptus, Indian Bean tree, Mediterranean oak, Gingko biloba, tulip tree. amelanchier, a myrtle as well as lots of natives.  And fruit galore - pears apples plums strawberries currants, blackberries.  Roses galore as well and conifers and heathers for the winter months.
