I've just finished hanging so loads of washing on the line, came in to get another load done when it has started to rain. I'm not sure whether to groan or clap my hands, since we haven't had rain for weeks
I hope you people in the UK are coping with the warmer weather. Our news didn't mention anything about limiting numbers at the tennis (as Marion mentioned yesterday). I guess our news people didn't think it was hot enough to tell us about.
Hello, Pat. Thank you so much for the kangaroo pictures. They must make gardening very difficult - so much fencing off and protecting of young trees! Yes, the rest of the world is smiling at how we are buckling under 37 degree heat! I was able to cope very well in 50 in the desert in Kenya but I was only 57 then and the humidity was very low. It has been very humid here which makes it difficult to sweat and, not being used to it the infrastructure is not here to cope. Some roads are melting, trains have been cancelled because of buckling lines and a quarter of the working population took "sick leave" yesterday and flocked to the seaside. Offices too uncomfortable without air conditioning. I stayed indoors apart from early morning and evening when I did necessary watering and strawberry picking. It is cooler today and cloudy as rain is on the way. I did not stay up till midnight to see the English women footballers play in the semi- final of the World Cup against Japan, just as well as I would have felt very upset for them in the way they lost by a last minute own goal. They have done amazingly well to get thus far.
I feel so sorry for you all over there. I hate it when it gets that uncomfortable. We had an air conditioner installed in the bedroom for last summer so that at least we had a cool room to sleep In. The trouble with opening the windows when it's hot, is that we get little midges that come through the fly screens and nip at us, so this way we can keep the windows closed.
I don't think people are laughing, especially if they've been through it. I noticed on TV that they have bad bushfires in USA at the moment so they must be suffering badly with heat problems as well.
We need to indivually fence each tree and shrub because of the Roos. The young ones are the worst - they break them off at knee height. I think it's because they are trying the taste of new plants, because once they get bigger, they don't seem interested in any trees or shrubs. It's OK, we are happy to get assistance with keeping the grass down. You win some and you lose some.
I'd hope so for you as well. After hanging two loads of washing on the line this morning, we not only had rain but freezing hail. My washing looks very dismal out there and they'll have to stay out all night. oh well!
Oh it was so good to get out in the garden taking pics and telling my plants how much I missed them in the last two days. They got extra carbon dioxide today as I oohed and aahed! The scented on my first sweet pea is knock-out. The mallows are opening in the butterfliy garden. Butterflies are loving this hot weather. Many have been coming into the conservatory through the door. The hydrangeas are all starting to flower early. Lots of strawberries needing picked. One of my premium bonds won me £25 this morning so i boosted it to buy a patio set for my visitors coming with £70 off. It is being delivered tomorrow so will take a picture of it for you. Looks like Verdigris cast iron but is actually a very light plastic, easy for me to carry round the garden.

Such a difference in the weather today, much cooler and now we have had a decent amount of rain. I will go the shops for supplies for the family coming at the weekend as twelve to cater for once was quite normal when the family at home numbered nine and , all being gregarious, so friends ,girlfriends and boyfriends, were all welcome for meals but nowadays it is quite unusual.

I love your snowy kangaroos Pat
Lets hope we get more rain today than we did yesterday! It's nice that it feels so much fresher today
