  • Just as they should be at this stage, Gg...second thoughts, I suppose you could replace the plastic lid at night until a few more have popped through.

  • David I been checking my sweet peas most days and amazed when I looked at them today one has started to open its leaves they are all looking good about 1" high now - not all seeds germinated but a lot have

  • That's about as it should be, Gg...mine have their first pair of leaves now. It's possible that some more seeds will germinate...obviously they will be slow, because of the low temperatures.

Hi David...do you remember those leggy fellows i posted in the photo on page one? Well here they are now...a bit more bushy from plenty of nipping out.  is it possible to 'over nip out' (no rudeness intended!)?!

  • Gardengirl - They're looking quite good, the occasional miss you have is to be expected, given recent temperatures.....don't be surprised if they still germinate a little later on.

Tootles - Yes, just a tad leggier than I would have liked. Just keep them nipped back,,,and a few twiggy sticks would help to support them.

  • I was going to start my Sweetpeas in October but time has flown by. Could I start them now? image and would they be that far behind?

Hi, Mark...I would leave them until  March if it were me. Sowing them now will require heat and careful hardening-off and to be honest, they'll only flower a couple of weeks ahead of March sown ones anyway.
