David i have spoken to you before about how to germinate sweet peas i was the one who drove you round the bend  ha ha sweet peas are doing great i trawled through the net looking for when to pinch out the sweet peas i found it on your page if i had checked your page in the first page it would have saved me a lot of time image

  • You're quite welcome, Wills....be assured you or no one else 'drives me round the bend' on this subject, I think a little repetition is inevitable.

I would suggest to Baza, try to take things a step at a time and not to try to absorb it all in one go i.e. thinking about cutting flowers before you've sown the seed.

David be rest assured that i will drive you round the bend again on this subject image can i ask you 1 more thing i have a fence and i was going to put wire i and a half feet apart and use sweet pea rings to hold them will that be okay and pin the wire with vine eyes image

  • Wills - perhaps it would be an idea to drape & secure plastic pea/bean netting over the wires. Sweet pea rings are usually used after the tendrils have been removed as in growing using the cordon method.

David K my sweet peas are getting tendrils I have took these off as they are not big enough yet, they have about 3 sets of leaves now 3rd ones right next to the top

Is that about ready to pinch out now?  why are they getting tendrils so soon?

  • Gg - good idea to remove those tendrils (the energy is best directed into the plants at this stage)....... It will do no harm to nip out those growing tips now, or you could leave them if they're not leggy.

Thanks David K then I will leave them a little longer
