Probably wise to leave your mini-greenhouse zip-flap door open once the seed has germinated......they are subject to condensation issues which could cause problems.
David, I know we planted our sweet peas at around the same time and that we are in similar location. Mine are about 4 inches tall now with a single stem. Should I pinch the tops out now so that they bush out. Must say they have been great seeds, every one has germinated.
As I've said many times, the cause of this spindly growth is because of too much warmth. Having said that and in fairness to Yviestevie (and probably others) the onset of a particularly mild spell after sowing the seed didn't help.
I took the precaution of germinating my seed outdoors where they remain until I put them in a cold frame when we get some more seasonal weather.
Nothing much can be done until we get some cold weather, when the growth will hopefully stop.....then at a later date the tops can be nipped out.
On reflection and in view of the unseasonal weather we get these days, perhaps it may be worth considering sowing our seed in mid-Nov.
Thanks a lot David. I'll leave them for now then. I'm expecting the serious frosts to start any day now, so not likely to get a lot more growth till spring I expect.

Sweet peas are very deep rooted, which is why some people claim good results using loo-roll middles.....sowing about six seeds in a 5" pot will work.

We have sweet pea germination after 18 days, I left them outside under a bench/seat rather than in a coldframe or cold greenhouse.

I have the same question as Yviesteive. Anyone won't to comment?

It's been colder here. Mine are only about two inches tall. Does that sound ok? When should I start pinching out?
I wouldn't do anything just now, if it were me.

Are you in the UK, ommthree?
