It is appreciated David, unfortunately some people can be a bit aloof. I sent seeds to someone on another forum and never received an acknowledgement or thank you.
I thought of you today as I sowed my first soaked seeds in the greenhouse.
Best clarify I think....I'm not expecting any medals or praise from anyone. However, I feel when someone (be it on this thread or any other) asks a specific question of a specific person, the person taking the trouble to respond deserves at least some indication that that reply has been read and if it had answered their query.
Water under the bridge and all that. [what happened to the dove & olive branch smiley?]
Hi David its wills i dont really get on the forum until a sat i work long hours mon- fri but half day today YESSS be Assured that your answers are invaluable and thanks to your advice i have loads of happy sweet peas waiting to be planted out with your advice i have ventured into sweet peas for hanging baskets and will apply the same principle to them as to the climbers hopefully with the same results .
I have sown, winston Churchill, wiltshire ripple, and two packets of mixed spencer type. All last years bargain seed, cost me a total of 1.50 for the seed and 24 quid for the roottrainers. My old ones have hellebore seeds germinating in them. I did notice that in one of the pods still hanging from last year, a seed was starting to germinate. Now its warmer, I can start and tidy up the veg patch. Out of sight, out ofmind..
thanks kef, just saying i did sow a few in autumn and they're looking pretty good, in the next week or so plan to sow LOADs more, want to be drowning in them this year, esp after last year's nhuge mistake! ( sprayed white fly ridden honeysuckle with a spray that on closer inpsection sai 'do not use on sweet peas' oops. threw it out so no chance of doing it again! Sorry if anyone already discussed, anyone think it's worth sowin the hanging basket trailing ones?
David, I'm also growing sweetpeas here for the first time, and have been reading with interest all your advice. So, before I 'forget', a big THANKYOU for all the help you are giving us.
Fidget, I made my own tubes out of paper rolled around a toilet roll, and now, having read your post, I am so glad I did not go into town for roottrainers! You have made me feel so good! My seeds are also end of the year bargains - snap!

I didnt like loo rolls, they all went mouldy before planting out. I did some in each last year, the ones in rootrainers performed much better.
Right, I shall watch out. Sometimes, though, it's a case of needs must, and this was.
