Yes, for sure...providing they've been grown without using heat, or are fully hardened off.

PS. 'Yes for sure'... they can be planted out now etc. image

Yes they have been outside in a cold frame ill plant them out thanks.

  • Ok, I'm late sowing mine and I know that but am I right in thinking we aren't meant to water them after sowing? Mine are in the GH, not germinated yet (after a week) and they were bone dry so I have watered them.  The GH got up to 40c today with the door open (is that normal for March??).  I'm wondering if I should put them outside?

That's not come from me, guv! image....only ever urged not to overwater during very cold weather, or may have even said better to underwater than overwater.

Have said quite a few times germination takes between 7 & 21 days, depending on prevailing temperatures.

I would think that outside would be preferable to wildly fluctuating temps from 40c to freezing.

I sowed mine about Feb 22nd , they're in the polytunnel, which is frost free, not overwatered and I've only got 11 germinated so far from about 60 seeds. I know it's still March, but it seems a bit slow.

  • It must be a bad year for them ,I have had the same problem Hosta really disappointed I love my sweet peas and had planned a long row this year rather than my usual wigwams. Hope it's not too late OL cos I'm having a goimage

I've sown some more in desperation.

  • Sorry to hear this, both. Generally speaking I prefer mine to be slow to germinate as they usually make stronger plants.

Given favourable conditions, they only thing I can think of that may be hold them back is the quality of the seed or compost.
