Yes think you could sow them in Autumn it will make the flowers come out earlier than spring flowering ones,  I used deep root trainers - block of pots that open with no root disturbance like little books

we have a south facing garden and my cold frame faces east

I sowed last autumn for first time, thanks to David's advice, sowed indoors, when germinated put outside in plastic greenhouse with broken zip, East facing garden, East facing wall, though fairly sheltered, planted out 3 weeks ago, all looking nice and stringimage

hi christine, yes, but oop North, I didn't think mine would survive ... but they did and I pretty much left them to it ( 2 small children allow me litttle time to attend as I would like to my plants and garden!)

Hi Baz, mine have been out 3 Weeks, think I was a little early but they were healthy looking plants. I'm in East Anglia so weathers not too bad. My sweetpeas went into shock a bit and did nothing for a couple of weeks, they have just started to grow and climb now image I'm impatient too, hence putting them in too early!

    Water regularly and wait! image

Mine are about to flower anyday I think and have grown ever such a lot in the last few days of very warm sunshine and showers at night. image
