Looking good GG weather up here in the northeast is warm then wet then chilly on a night. If we lose the chilly nights then I suppose hopefully they'll romp away aswell

    Thanks

Cold winds and rain will check them a bit baza but once the weather warms up properly they'll catch up . I've not even sown mine yet but last year they were sown in April, got checked with the cold weather and did nothing until early June anyway. Pretty standard for this neck of the woods image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Wow GG my autumn ones look really strong and are growing well but no flowers or buds yet, I didn't think I'd d see any for maybe 3 or 4 weeks, have you fed yours? My spring sown ones seem to be growing quite slowly, don't t think I'll see flowers on those for 6 weeks

Mine are about 3ft tall but no flowers yet.  They are really strong though and I cant wait for the first flower.  At the moment I am tying them in regularly and removing the tendrils.

  • Is it normal for sweat peas to self seed? Last year a grew some up a wigwan which I have now removed, but in its place are lots of little seedlings shooting up...they have even started growing in the pot that holds my curly hazel tree and have already started to flower in places! I've moved most of to a better  place in the garden now and they are all happily scrambling skywards. I feel like they like my garden and feel very honoured haha

I have had them germinate in autumn, still in the pods. I planted them in rootrainers for the winter to give an early flowering last year. If the conditions are right, they will grow. Its not that different from planting seeds in autumn. I presume they were in a sheltered position.
