i've planted my autumn sown ones out today too, in the front west facing garden, though we had hail yeaterday and a fairly heavy frost this morning the soil wasn't too bad, not that warm but easy enough to dig and break up so fingers crossed they'll do ok, even put 3 tins of beer down amongst them in case any snails or slugs DARE!!!

  • I have copper rings around most of mine and I shall be watching closely for anything slimy...image

mine have been outside in pots on top of the bench and table no slug or snail protection, and unbelievably no signs of any slimey activity but aware more vulnerable in ground and as weather warms up

  • I've checked mine tonight......no sign of life, come on little babies image

  •  Tut, tut, 'little babies' image and there you go, changing your name again! Don't  come running to me if MA stages a comeback. image

david, you'd be proud of my harsh-lazy-treatment of mine, esp the autumn ones, and they are looking well..let's hope they stay that way out in the garden!

I'm always impressed with your efforts, rosemummy. image and if I lived nearer, I would be only too pleased to be your gardener.

Remember, those little ones who demand so much attention now, will soon be less demanding and will probably be helping in your garden.

aah, thanks, the 'big' one does sow seeds and 'help' around a bit! little one just waliking so not yet but soon!!

  • Visiting my garden centre today, I see they are selling (unnamed) sweet pea seedlings, 3 to a 2inch pot for £1.99. Considering you can buy 21 top quality, named seeds for £2,I do wonder why people would buy them.
