  • To be honest, Gg, I don't usually grow dwarf sweet peas and those I have, haven't had a spreading habit.....you'll probably have to plant thickly for ground cover.

  • Just like to say, that I use Vitax Q4 as a top dressing when planting out my own sweet peas...although (as previously stated) blood fish & bone meal will do just fine.

  • Hello David, I have at last sown my seeds today, yes I know they area ate but I'm hoping they will catch up. They are in the GH, watered and I will leave them now - no 'Molly coddling'!!  8 varieties of Eagle seeds that I bought last year and I still have some left which I am definitely sowing in Autumn this year x

  • Good luck with them, Sunflower Lady....although you could have sown the seed directly where they are to flower now.

I note that Monty Don sowed his seeds indoors last Friday.....so I guess that's  the official way.  image

I'll definitely sow mine direct next year. It was hard work planting the seedlings. But I just couldn't wait to plant something indoors!

  • I did wonder about sowing direct but decided against it because of the Beags so they don't get trampled on image

had put all my seedlings outside  yesterday after a half hearted bit of hardening off, they're fairly sheltered from wind behind bigger pots, but then the hail and rain came today so hard, hope they're not too squished! been giving seeds to 2 friends who starting to get interested in gardening, hilarious that they are asking my advice!

  • Well I have taken David's advice and they are now out fending for themselves.  After a full day they look very perky and I think glad to be out of the cold frame and in the ground .  I have planted some using bone meal fertiliser and thrown in a few without any fertiliser so I can see what the difference is.
