Hello David K can you tell me what pests eat sweetpeas,if any and what can i do to stop it.
Thanks
Baz
Baz - sweet peas don't normally have any really damaging pests and those they do have (greenfly & pollen beetle) don't cause very much damage....mice in the early stages and perhaps birds later may be a problem.
There are a couple of things like 'bud drop' & mildew that my be a problem during the growing season, but it's a tad early to be anticipating every setback.
Hi David i havent annoyed you for a while my sweet peas are quite happily growing away in the green house but i could really use the space that they are taking up can you tell me when the best time to plant them out is i have pinched most of the growing tips out .
Weather & soil conditions permitting early March would be the best time to plant out those SPs.
I say weather & soil conditions permitting because when you remove them from their pots (as with all transplants) they will take a little check and need to recover.
Try to avoid icy winds...even if you have to provide a temporary windbreak.

Hello David K
If or when the sweet peas die back during the winter do they die back altogether or will they regrow the following spring ?
Thanks
Baz
Baz - There are perennial sweet peas that die back and regrow in the spring, although the ones we discuss here are annuals.
The perennial type are quite vigorous and have no small.
Thanks David k
"The perennial type are quite vigorous and have no small.'
Whoops....please read 'no smell'.
