Hi Rebecca, last year I made some rhubarb and ginger chutney, it has taken a while to mature but is lovely now
If you want the recipe let me know.
Apart from that it's crumble for me I'm afraid, or Rhubarb Fool or just simple stewed rhubarb with Greek yoghurt or on porridge (as already suggested).
I found a rhubarb plant in my allotment. Its anybodys guess how old it is, but the leaves were mottled and yellowing so I have pulled these off and mulched it with rotten manure. Is it best to dig it up and divide it and give it a new home or just leave it be?
I missed the comment about stopping picking. I didn't know until this year either Rebecca, but my stalk are a lot smaller this year, last year I picked my last batch in about October when I made my chutney and then removed all the 'rotten' ones about a month later......there is so much to learn.
So like Dove, I will take my last batch probably this weekend, possibly one more I'm not sure yet, and then I will leave it until next year. I think I read somewhere to feed it too when you stop picking so it gets lots of nutrition, but can't remember if that's right or not??
Hi gina, yes you can split it, im sure there is a propper time to do this, but ive never taken much notice! You wont be able to pick any for a year or so tho
