I'm way behind looking in on this thread - it's great to see everyone's ideas and colour schemes and such great plants.

Yviestevie (think I've got that wrong!) - am really taken with your Par. Clem in the jug. What a gorgeous blue.  I bought a jug on a whim from a local junk shop and wish I'd thought of trying to put a clematis in there.  With it's narrow top I tried a few things and nothing stayed alive!  You've given me an idea to try now maybe for next year.  My  jug just kind of sits there looking a bit daft at the moment next to a bambooimage I couldn't figure out how to plant anything in it properly.  I had the idea of using a leg from a pair of stockings filled with compost (the mad ideas I get) and lowering it into the jug with something to hold it around the top.  I didn't want to fill the jug with grit and compost in case the whole thing just moulded with wet.  You can tell I'm not applying logic to this folks!

How did you plant your clem in there?

What do you do for drainage in a jug, has it got a hole in the bottom?

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
