Went to the allotment on Saturday managed to get some planting in my trail bed still a bit of the hole to fill in

Another trip to the allotment on Tuesday after getting a push mower from a gumtree person for a tenner on Monday  - got some of the grass and weed paths trimmed was fun to use and paths look better for it, could not do all the path bits as goes up and down masses and with brambles

Been to Aldi today got some climbing plants and 2 hibiscus great looking plants

Finally picked a courgette today it was big so making soup with it for tomorrow dinner

Garden girl. Hello. Have you tried, with your courgette, cutting it in half lengrhwise, scooping out middle, filling with a sort of bolognoise mix, sprinkling cheese on top and baking.  Pretty good.image

Not tried that - may give it a go sometime. most other courgettes are small from garden - sure when I get to grow them on the allotment plot they will grow faster being in full sun

With cucumbers I have peeled them scooped out the middle sliced length ways into thin bit then cut into smaller lengths and fried in butter until golden brown that taste good with other food

Did eat the cauliflower tasted ok

Been to Wyevale GC today and got a two type apple tree for the allotment plot for a fiver instead of a tenner like it said and it would of been nearly forty five quid if full price types a James Grieve and cox orange pippin - so a bargain was not going for a apple tree until I saw them and the price also got some bedding plants

Saw all the veg plants looked good was thinking about kale trying it not sure if I will like it

If any of you have black currants what ones do you have?    e.g. name

    Do white currants taste similar?

Garden Girl, my cauliflowers did the same ! I ate one or two but threw the rest away as they looked awful, will try again next year just in case it was the weather. Got 2 fab pati pan squash, I assume you cook them the same as butter nut?

We cut courgettes length ways and cook them in olive oil on a griddle pan, yum!

Zoomer I have a resident frog in my mini frog pond (black washing up bowl sunk into the ground..see front right in pic I put some stones around and in the bowl to disguise it!

guess you cook the same as squash

might of been the weather with the cauliflower, did try and ask about it in the shop but the two people in there do not grow it and said does not cost much - difficult to grow veg
