Been to the allotment today lots of watering and more filling of hole with soil
Hello all , really busy weekend , Village show on Saturday great result , see picture and Sunday O/H did " race for life "and I spent day tidying up allottment
Entries in O/H name as she does all fiddle bits like tying up end of onion and makes the jams ect . We got 6 first 12 seconds and 4 thirds plus The RHS Banksian Medal for most points in horticultural classes
Also won Parish Council trophy for most points overall Both mega chuffed
Hi All, been on a 2 week break so have not looked at my computer!! Well done GWRS for your prizes, you must be chuffed to bits.Glad to hear you are all having success with your growing season!
Plot is looking good, I have cauliflowers now, not ready to harvest yet though. Been harvesting and eating french beans, peas, khol rabi chard etc, plenty to get through !!
Strawberry conserve was a bit of a disaster, whilst waiting for it to reach setting point I flicked through some cook books and found one which said be mindful not to boil to long as this reduces the pectrin, me thinks I boiled to long.
I'm still picking strawberries, had my first blueberries from back garden yesterday eaten from the bush before the birds got to them as there were so few, it's a new bush though and there's always next yr's bumper harvest to look forward to.
Went to the plot yesterday to pick/harvest and water GH. Picking strawberries, rubarb, spinach, chard, swede, globe artichokes, mangetout, red lettuce, selection of herbs and nasturgium flowers for salads.
Pea's/sugar snap not quite ready. French/runner beans begining to reach the top of their supports so nipped some out. Isn't it strange how they wrap themselves around supports in the same clockwise direction.
Hello , been to allottment today , lots of jobs plus harvested broad beans as they where starting to go over , got 2 big bucket full , o/h to blanch and freeze
even managed to get another tub of raspberries when I though all gone
just about to go and watch Lincoln a City in a preseason friendly against Lecistern City
9am Wednesday here. congrats GWRS on your successful harvest. My garden hasn't woken up yet, but I've lots of seedling getting started in GH. I have been plicking leaves from the Broccolini plants and they are delicious steamed. The silverbeet (chard) is also supplying an occasional meal and we are still getting through my stored onions from summer. The broad beans which are in the freezer are still being used with pleasure.
We are still glued to TV every night until 2am watching the Tour de France, but thank goodness that last night they had a rest day over there, so we got to bed at a reasonable time.
