Sorry to hear about about your sad loss Gina. It's probably early days but if you dad liked gardening you might want to consider planting a fruit tree in his memory.

One of the allotmenteers here planted a fruit tree before Christmas for the birth of their grandchild, four generations attended the planting.

We had more snow overnight, it's all melted now thank heavens. I've still loads to do to get the top of the plot ready for planting.

Just ordered lots of herb seeds, thought I'd plant them under the fruit tree's when they've grown to make use of the bare ground, they should attract bee's too..

Sounds like you had another busy day GWRS, and the weather's been kind in your part of world, do you find on the allotment time seems to go really quickly, I'll go with the intention of staying a couple of hours and end up staying longer.

Just wondered where everyone buys their seeds from. I use moreveg and simply seed mainly. Sometimes jungleseeds and heritage seeds. Heritage seeds provide information as to how to save seeds which is useful.

My main place for purchase of seeds is Kings also get seed potatoes and other items from  them , always been excellent

Always by garlic , onions from Wilko

Bought lots of green manure seeds from Kings this year , to try through out the year

There is also a really good local garden centre , a good old fashioned one , no resturant or other outlets  , just plants and horticultural items ,  however , closed last year for redevelopment , due to reopen in March so it will be interesting to see what they have done !image

Thanks for your heartwarming comments guys, I dont normally share such personal stuff but knew I could with you.xx  Like the idea of planting a treeimage

Re seeds, I bought some last year from Robinsons as I wanted some more unusual items, but as I work near a lot of big stores like Homebase, The Range  etc, I pick them up there (and then forget what I have got so have to write it in a notepad!!!)

Bad  night in the S\E last night.70 mph winds kept me awake till around 3am. Went to the plot  expecting to see sheds scattered around the place. My watering can had blown against the fence. That was the damage bring on 80image. Only Thompson &Morgan,Kings so far.

Yes the winds were bad, my solid garden bench was knocked over! slightly weird perhaps it was a fox? as the plastic GH was ok.

Finished manuring the plot. Weeded and thinned out the berries bed and made room for the grapes green/black which I ordered from J Parkers really excited.

Seeds- TM Suttons Fothergill Franchi I get them from GC they over order then sell them for 50p! Potatoes I got from the plot shop last yr but have ordered from Parkers special offer. Basically if I see a good bargain I tend to buy it whether I need it of not!!

Gina- hope you are feeling a bit better, I planted a apple tree in memory of my mother in law in our garden last yr on what would have been her b'day. She loved apples and growing flowers. Having 'granma' tree means she is still around us.
