Roy- Your FYM sounds dreadful yes you should report. Must admit everyone is so friendly at the stables and they have asked me to tell all alottmenteers to come and collect it. Otherwise they have to pay someone to take it away so the gardeners are doing them a favor.
Fruitcake- Azada sounds good will look it up myself anything that saves the back.
Hi, I get my horse and fym in bags. Local stables fills bags and leaves at gateway to be collected. Pay as you go! If the manure look to have too much straw in I stack that bag for using in a month or so. FYM, bags filled by farmer, excellent black stuff.
Having covered the beds at the allotment I'm now stacking bags ready for the planting out sessions.
Hello Weyplotter, Went to the plot today to spread last delivery of manure. Same supplier J A Bowers but this was green bags, still OFM but 100% better .Know nothing about manure but would use this again.
Have to say I get it easy , we have the Horse Manure delivered free to our allottments and we just help our selves
Been a nice sun day a bit windy but in doors doing paper work which carry on to Monday with a meeting Tuesday , so getting withdrawal systems for the allottment hope toget up there Wednesday/Thursday if weather holds
I'm pleased for you Roy that OFM was ok and you've manured your plot I've actually got a fair bit to do still.
GWRS had a look at Azada and watched the video-lol I think I may have one of those lurking in my shed so will have a look on my next visit. To be honest I can't imagine swinging an azada around!
Weyplotter they key with the azada is NOT to swing it from above your head! Gentle swinging should do it
i have been on both plots today- to collect some green veg from one and hoping to get some onione in at the second. Sadly this didn't happen because the soil was too wet It's been covered with plastic for a week- big mistake me thinks. We've left it uncovered now and hopefully will be able to get them in over the next couple of weekends.
I did get some of the area around the gooseberries cleared though, so slow progress is happening
on on the other plot, I have two cabbages left to pull then I can get that bed dug over ready for the potatoes to go in

Roy, sorry to hear that. It's a job and a half to spread the manure without finding it's not good. Sympathise.
It may be useful to let the gc know of the condition of that organic manure. You may get replacement bags.
You're lucky BuzzieB I wish the stables did that round here-I'd happily pay. Although on the plus side if you dig deep it is black gold and free!!

Not sure what sized plot I will get yet, so far I have the cheapest veg area in the back garden
Not sure about swinging an Azada around either - but good you like it Fruitcake
Weyplotter you were lucky to get a shed with tools in, I do have spare hand tools fork and spade that I will use there when I get it
think I will get a long handled cultivator seen one I like
Sounds good about some FYM - not sure the allotment has that., think they have bark chippings free
