Managed to squeeze in an hour on the plot yesterday for some more digging, I had some foxgloves and primroses spare so I put those in. Gave a few foxgloves to Carol (who has the plot near the entrance) to put in the flower border that runs along the main path next to the disused railway embankment. She had spent all afternoon weeding and tidying it. Its an area thats hit and miss, some allotmenters put a lot of work into making it nice and others just leave it weedy. I will sort ours out when I have time, its a good area to use excess plants from the garden.
We have quite a few taps on our site, they encourage us to fill our water butts with a hose pipe or by using rain water off the sheds, and to use watering cans (pretty standard council policy). We are on a meter but are not charged for our water.
Edd , I understand where you are coming from but we get a copy of the accounts at the AGM and the ass does't make that much money out of the water , in fact funds are tight
We have bark chipping's and horse manure delivered free and it is free to use
As you can tell from my post I'm quite happy with the situation
DIY skills ok but it'll take 3 or 4 of us to put up. I refuse to do anything with it until after Christmas lol.
we took a rare day off allotmenting today to take part in a big motorbike ride in aid of the local children's hospice. Roughly 400 bikes all decorated for Christmas and the riders made an effort too
After a particularly difficult week (the missing mother and baby stuff happened quite literally on my doorstep) I'm busy working on tomorrow's hangover lol. I may or may not get anything done on the plots tomorrow
