Thanks for the info re Blueberries MelM , just what I needed to know
Good to see photos GWRS and Gardengirl, all looking productive.
Hi, Chunk plots here, Herefordshire, are £50 a year full size, £25 half.
Spent time on Saturday on my plot (think you know I'm sharing one but hope to get it proper next year), mostly chatting to others there, no photos as too many folk about. Checking out a cutting bed size already turned soil over, need more compost.
Watched Beechgrove for the comments on the cutting bed - encouraging. The 'hot bed' was interesting, must look back for fact sheet to see what they did.
Hello , found Beechgrove and put it on favourites to have a proper , no wonder never come across it as it is BBC Scotland or BBC 2 at 7-20 on a Sunday morning far to early for me !
been up the allotment to day hoped to finish fencing but rain stopped play so back again tomorrow to finish off , weather should be nice and sunny , trouble is garden jobs at home are stacking up
Great pics Gg, It looks like the plots are on flat land, most of ours are on a slope.
Sowed a grass path over the weekend, it may not have been the best plan but I'm happy to live and learn. It's not covered with netting so the birds may well have made a feast of the seeds by now ...and after sowing the guy on the neighbouring plot told me wood chips by the tonne were delivered on site last December...
Hi I'm not sure if I'm on the right thread. Brand Newbee. Just got my allotment and I'm buzzing. I am listening to a lot of experienced allotmenteers in my area and some are saying that the chickweed I have in my allotment should be dug out and then the rest are saying leave it as it is good manure ???. I'm really not sure who's right and who' s wrong. What would be best. thanks
Hi Mozey and Welcome I would say if the chickweed is in the way move it if not maybe it won't hurt to leave it not really had that in the garden only bindweed issues
What area you from? Is it a whole plot or half you have?
I am on the list for a plot it is all exciting listen to you lot about allotments and getting info and looking at photos, I just visit the allotment shop and be nosy that is still exciting
GWRS Beechgrove gardens meant to be on Sunday morn at 9.30 but jumps around a lot I watch later on
Zoomer shame about the bark chipping, might of been a one off though - you can test out the grass paths

Hello , what's " Beechgrove " ?
It's a gardening magazine show shown on the bbc (2 I think). Sometimes it's a pile of wet manure but most of the time it can be quite useful
autocorrect wanted to to put shown on the BBQ and not bbc lol
GWRS here is a link to this weeks it is on tv Sunday mornings on BBC 2

Thanks Gardengirl,
I usually catch-up on a Sunday morning, also they produce fact sheets on each topic covered that week. If time is short I download one of interest.
Fruitcake, like you fankness
agree, but can usually find something useful and it's a relaxing hour.
