Morning all. Looks sunny but cool outside. I plan on harvesting  a lot of Broccolini leaves today because they have gone crazy. I'm concerned that they'll  get tough and strong flavoured if I let them get too big. I'm not sure, because this the first year I've grown them. More learning in the garden! image

scoggin, that would have been a challenging walk, Helvellyn, it's the 3rd highest peak in England, the views must have been fab, nice to hear you enjoyed the trip.

When I was learning to dive, the club used the Lakes as a training ground so I've dived some of the deeper lakes. Not alot to see under the water though image but the drive to different sites were always memerable.

Here's some useless information, there is only one lake in the Lake district, the rest are tarns or waters.

Plan to go to the plot tomorrow.

Friend gave me 4 open pallets with metal hinges , so I will divide one of my larger beds into 4 smaller ones , much easier to manage and I have found that putting fleece or netting across the top , depending on what you are growing gives themthat early protection image

need to plant up a new strawberry bed before end of month

    definite drop in tempreture image

  • GWRS they are pallet collars, I have looked at them they make really good raised beds - some were being sold on internet for a fiver each so great you got given them

I going to the allotment soon today

Went for a late night trip last night planted some shoo fly plants (flowers)  that were still in pots and watered some of the cauliflower plants that I dug up from the garden they were not really doing much in the raised bed

Hello Ginagibbs sounds as though you had a great time - with celery I have it just cut up or make into soup with potatoes, other than that think it will be looking up what to do with it

GWRS been looking for pallet collars for ages. Lots of plot holders use them for raised beds (I have one in my polytunnel) If anyone sees them for sale, please let me knowimage

  • Ginagibbs the pallet collars for sale in near Portsmouth you would have to travel a long way  or in Hatfield Hertfordshire  from Gumtree

Went to the allotment plot and managed to get some soil back into the hole, loads of plots were having a bonfire -  I must of missed a memo

Loads of pallets down the bottom of the garden going to try and get some for the shed this week the right sort

Morning everyone. I've been out to the GH and it ranged from 1c overnight to 25c by 10am, so could be an interesting day. Very windy from the south west, which also means it's coming from the snow fields and rather cool. Still no signs of cabbage white butterfly so fingers crossed for a bit longer.  I'll get back to reading all your  posts from last night when I get back from town.  image
