Hi Marion. How are the Cucamelons doing? I was intrigued when I saw that you had some, as I had never heard of them before, so I googled them. I may give them a try next year. Your garden is looking good!
The cucamelons are growing apace, Linda. I shall grow three vines in the conservatory and try the rest out of doors at the mercy of the weather. It has such a pretty leaf so should look good anyway in the potager up bamboo canes. Like you i am keen to try them. It has been a lovely Sunday with lots of visitors, both to the Botanic Garden and my garden. Lots of warm sunshine.
Another lovely gardening day in Bristol. Warm and sunny and 32 rudbeckia plants pricked out already. Lobelia next and then more tomatoes will be put out into their permanent positions. I will get out the camera when it gets cloudier as forecast. More daffs and tulips will have to come out of their pots to make way for tomato plants. We should soon be hearing about our May parcel from Mr. Fothergills. I wonder what treats they have in the post for us this month.
Oh my goodness it is uncanny in my garden. It seems to know this is its Golden jubilee Year. For the first time ever I have golden mushrooms in May in my front garden and under my ferns. I went to cjeck if I had any little daisies on my Erigeron kalviniankus and found them nestling under my golden pansies. The weigela which did not flower till July last year is in full flower.
Holiday Monday in my garden. The bluebells were vying with the tree peonies as tp which had the stronger scent. The mushrooms under the ferns in the last picture were huge.
My goodness the soil was warm today as I planted my pink "Desiree" potatoes in one of my raised beds in the potager. What April showers we had have certainly brought lots of May flowers. Here are some in my garden today when the sun shone for most of the day in Bristol.
Chicky that red plant is commonly called RED Jasmine - Cestrum nyelii. It flowers all year round - in the garden and then the conservatory for the wonter. It is towering above bluebells in the fernery.
Damage limitation day today as the "breeze" was so strong! I watered all the pots that were toppling over in the hope that the extra weight would keep them upright. At one time when there was an almighty sudden gust I was the one that needed tethering.
