Oh  that was a lovely play, so well performed.  It took me back to the days when we had a week off school to help the landgirls get in the potato crop in the war.  There was an 95 year old ex-landgirl in the audience who was given a bouquet at the end by the producer of the play.  I can recommend it for a very enjoyable night out to any age group.  Almost a musical as they sang all the old wartime songs.

Very cold again today but need to go to PO as last posting day for Australian Xmas cards so will wrap up well and post them and my American and Canadian cards as well.  Gardening can wait now till the weekend which is forecast to be sunny and warmer but I can do a bit in the conservatory where everything is thriving and very colourful.

Cold again this morning with some white on next door'd grass but I soon warmed up when i opened my email to find the last two rosebuds of "Lady Emma" from my friend's garden and two pics of his "Red Garden " amaryllis.  I sent him in return two pics of the pink amaryllis he gave me to cheer me up after the 'flu.

White frost on roofs and grass this morning but sun forecast for all day so should be warm enough to venture out by eleven.  Everything is fine in the conservatory and Mr. Fothergills trials of late sown perennials still seem to be growing though slower.  I should have lots in flower at Easter for the opening weekend of the Univ. of Bristol Bot. Garden when we Friends sell lots of plants for the funds.  Aubrieta in bulk in various colours should catch the eye.   The late sown salad leaves are looking OK outside too.  I am enjoying taking risks under the Mr Fothergills umbrella.  Perhaps I am a bit of gambler after all.

On such a cold frosty day I feel so grateful to Mr. Fothergills Seeds for making me a participant in ther Nation of Gardeners Project.  Without that i would not have Cut and Come Again salad leaves outside, winter lettuce and more leaves coming on in the cold frame, perennials sown late and growing on ready to go out in the garden in June, now in the conservatory.  It would not have entered my head to try.  A big Thank You to Mr. Fothergill

Good evening Marion, it's very very cold in the north, we have had white gardens this week, scraping the car windows every morning image, I don't like winter. Your flowers are looking gorgeous, what's the tall flowers called?, can't believe how much your seeds have grown too image, had two work doos to go to last week and enjoyed them thoroughly plenty eating drinking and dancing image

The tall flowers are amaryllis, flumpy1, which grow from a large bulb that sits half in compost and half out.  They are often given at Xmas for presents complete with pot and compost so all you have to do is plant and keep watered as soon as a green shoot appears.  I have a Xmas meal to go to on Wednesday as the guest of a group I have given garden lectures to, so hope the weather is not too fierce that day.

Wet this morning but much warmer and the forecast is for a dry sunny day strangely enough set to get colder from 10am onwards.  0 degrees forecast for tonight so will wake up to freezing conditions tomorrow morning.  Time for a warning note on the bun tin methinks.  I would hate to lose anything now.  New flowers beginning to open on my tibouchina and a lot to open on my Duranta repens as well as my red jasmine and the red, pink and white pelargoniums.  My new amaryllis is looking great too, now its buds are opening every day.  Scotland is about to have quite a lot of snow though.  For such a small country we do have an amazing variety in the weather.

Dec.7th and my Sunday lunch was mostly provided by Me. Fothergill's trials.  Even the smallest of the tomatoes ripened this year so no green tomato chutney and the salad leaves are delicious.  OK I did have to buy the seeded bread and the cream cheese.

Pink clouds in a blue sky in the Bristol sunset tonight got me out in the cold to snap them.
