Oh TY Bizzie B. Last night 's weather had me worried - lots of heavy rain with the thunder and lightning and more of the same forecast for today. it is thundering as I type but my morning inspection found everything shipshape and Bristol fashion eXcept of course the gazanias had their flowers tightly shut to protect their pollen from the rain. It is the Harbour Festival in the Bristol docks this weekend with 350 visiting boats so this is not ideal weather for it. Lots of the bargages are decorated with flowers. More wet weather forecast for tomorrow too. It will certainly make my sweetcorn grow!
Bizzie B, in the fourth picture down there are many lime green leaved plants - the new growth of a large white heather, filpenduls aruea in a pot, a Japanese grass Hake something, heuhera "Key lime Pie" and the whole bed is topped by next door's lime tree which has lime coloured leaves so red aplenty was called for.
Had heavy rain here in Stoke-on-trent this morning after a big thunderstorm last night. I think everything has survived-the sweetcorn is definitely looking happy Marion! Came down in stair-rods, just as I decided to plant some seeds, so it was 'garage gardening'! I planted some Lettuce seeds-a trial pack from DT seeds(I feel a bit like you with your Mr.Fothergill trial Marion!) and some late Carrots, also called Marion. So I just had to let you know! Your pictures are lovely- I hope that you do well with your Bristol In Bloom. Becoming a bit of a seedaholic I think-saw a gardening magazine with free seeds, and before I knew it, I had sent off for another half dozen free packets! That's why I got the free pack of trial seeds. I now have a box full of seeds for next year, and a despairing husband.
Marion's got us all on Mr Fothergills, i'm growing tomatoes and curly Kale, they are growing like mad, we and my husband jumped out of our skins at 4am withthe thunder and lightening and really heavy rain, but its watered the garden so i'm happy with that
I am beginning to think I should have had a career n PR instead of chemistry! still i do get a thrill when i see all the gallons of emulsion paint now being used! I watched the Golf instead of gardening and shall probably do the same tomorrow as the forecast is for more rain. Linda I did not know there was a Marion carrot, but knew and have grown the swede called Marion which is a good one. i hope the carrots are too.
I do hope there isn't much rain tomorrow, today is the first weekend day in 7 weeks I've not been to the allotment!
Today hasn't been wasted though, I've been baking, and when the rain cleared and sun came out I spent a while in my garden on my new hammock. Has been a while since I just stopped in the garden and took it all in
Aah the weather looks much better today, although everything in the garden is very wet. the sun is shining brightly and it is warm already. should get the weeds out of my new jubilee border and some more shrubs out of their pots and into the ground. The lettuce, in strips and a seed pkt should get sown today too. First thing to do is harvest loads of broad beans and distribute them for Sunday dinner in the lane. uite a few of the plants have blackfly now so I want to get them cut down and composted.
good morning, yes much better if wet! Some deadheading of roses and tidying up of geraniums with a bit of weeding as they are easy to pull after the rain. Thankfully I'm not needed at the allotment today (a no-dig garden us looking more attractive than ever!) So a quiet day

A perfect combination and setting!
