Yes Jo, that's what I figured out. She had her 6 weekly shower and shave a week ago and she has been doing this 3am thing since then, so I realised she was probably cold. She is a skinny old thing - only weighs 4kg. Loving though. The trouble is that once she starts something, it very quickly becomes a habit and we could strangle her at times.
Clari, your blanket sounds great. Hang on to it as long as you can. Re having a song stuck in your head - I've a lovely friend who is a Mandolinist with the Melbourne Mandolin Orchestra who describes this problem as having a flea in her ear. I only have to play one of their CDs, to have the same problem. Eurydice, Gluck, etc. etc. I've probably got the spelling wrong, but can't be bothered going to the other room to read It.
my November GW mag hasn't arrived on my iPad yet. I'm getting anxious.
Hello Topbird. I can just about taste the cakes! Trouble is that since my type2 diabetes diagnosis, we've been VERY good about avoiding those sort of things. At least our efforts worked and the Doc is happy with me.
We see Mary Berry with Paul Hollywood on TV. They've recently started an Australian version of the show with two of our well known cooks. The most irritating thing about it is that the two female assistants who are trying to copy the behaviour of the two in the UK version (And not very well).
Morning Pat. As kids, my cousins and I would be up to mischief ( nothing dreadful) and be sent off with a flea in our ears (meaning a good telling off). The ear worm seems a slightly better description. I think that came from Germany. Both better than 'I've got a song stuck in my head'
Pleased to hear that HRH had a good night so that you could too. I'm turning in for the night so ... See you tomorrow.
Oh bless her 4kg! That's like my dogs head! (At almost 30kg he's a complete runt for either of the two breeds he's a cocktail of and we met a lovely lady dog whose the same mix and she's pushing 45kg: I'm sure I could have used her as a donkey!)
Hello SGLily. I also need to be careful with tomatoes. I discovered some years ago that I have an intolerance to MSG. I was directed to a publication by the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital dietitians )Sydney) which listed foods that are naturally high in MSG. I avoid oranges as well as restricting tomatoes. It's worth googling foods that are high in MSG, because it's easy to reduce your intake of those foods when you know which ones. I don't get any aching joints anymore.
Well, I think the best group won... sorry Hosta...
Pat, I've brought the mending home to assess, & maybe sew some of the less fiddly bits by machine. Mum's fascinated by my knitting though (I'm making stripey socks at the moment) so I often take that when I go to see her. I have really mixed feelings about her move; I think a specialist home will suit her well, and the place we've found is lovely, but... I'll miss being able to drop in and see her whenever I want. I've been looking up cheap rail tickets to the north-east so I can visit her often!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
That sounds promising, Lirio. The new home sounds lovely! but as you say, you've become used to dropping in often. Is rail travel expensive? I suppose that unless you need to use rail often, such as going to work every day, it's not worth getting seasonal tickets or whatever the UK version is. Because we're remote from any public transport, I'm out of touch. In Melbourne, Hubby had to travel into the city to work so used to buy a monthly ticket and that was rather expensive. I'd just about forgotten that.
