Do you think they're still together... or is he under a patio somewhere - I hope so!
doc- I see it all the time. They think because it's sunny and warm down the car park, that it's going to be the same three and a half thousand feet higher. The ones on snowy mountains with babies in back carriers - don't get me started on them... My ex husband told me recently about a young lad who was rescued up here. He had maps etc - but no warm or waterproof clothing, just t shirt and shorts because it was summer. The weather's often worse in the 'summer' than it is just now. The phone thing worries me constantly - people are relying on them all the time, and they use them for everything. I have a separate phone, GPS, maps, compass and route reports - and a camera for photos.
I think a walk for Mountain Rescue might be on the cards...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Mountain Rescue guys are up there with the RNLI boys (and girls) for me when it comes to total respect and admiration. All too often risking their own lives for poorly equipped idiots who think mother nature is never going to turn on them.
Hope you get the water situation sorted out Clari - I'd be a bit concerned too imagining all sorts of scenarios. Hope also that you do go for the job interview. If nothing else the receipt of a request for a reference might give your current manager a kick up the you-know-where.
Gertie - I also add extra lemon to my drizzle cake to make it extra tangy. I quite like throwing a handful of fresh raspberries into the batter too
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Hello everyone. Morning has broken, like the first ... I'd better stop. I seem to have a song stuck in my head. Recently saw the BBC Proms with Rogers and Hammerstein stuff. slept heavily as usual, but probably because I had a song in my head.
cool morning, heaters on, still snuggled down, but had to let HRH out for her morning twinkle. I've managed to break her new habit of waking us at 3am to go out. I put one of her (hand knitted by your truly) coats on her last night, and she slept snuggled down all night. Hurrah!
have read through all your posts and join in with sympathies and giggles. We see idiotic behaviour here with bushfires. The last one was caused by someone welding something in a paddock of typical long grass. They don't stop to think about the volunteer fire fighters having to give their time and energy and also to sometimes put their lives at risk. Makes you shake your head, at times - it pointless ranting on about it, though. Nothing will change.
since it's now 7.15am and you are all probably relaxing in front of the Tele, I'll sign off.
I'm busy repairing clothes for my Mum. Her current Home seems to have hidden any clothing needing a stitch or two at the back of her wardrobe, instead of a) telling me they need repair, or b), as advertised, mending them themselves. But they are generally lovely, caring people, so I'm not about to pick a fight. The clothes will be ready for her move next Wednesday (probably).
Hosta, I'll be there... but I really haven't decided who I want to win!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Morning Pat! Isn't it awful when you get a song in your head, I normally end up with only half the song that wont go away until I get on the internet to find the rest of it to try and sooth my ear worm. But not before I've whistled it enough to bug several other people.
Congratulations on managing to get HRH to sleep through the night! I think we've almost broken Reggie of his habit of rattling on the gate to be let out at silly o'clock. I wouldn't mind but I'm convinced he does it sometimes before he's bored. Loving the idea of her having her bespoke made jackets: that said don't we all settle better with something we know is just for us to cuddle up too? (I write this wrapped in my fleece old thomas the tank engine blanket that I know my partner has been trying to get the dog to eat as he doesn't like it).
Hi Lirio. I didn't think about that situation of having to check your Mum's clothes. Gosh, you have to be on your toes. Can you sit and do it by hand while there with her, or do you need to take it home to a sewing machine? You must be getting excited/anxious about the move on Wednesday. Hope it goes well for both of you.

Final of The Naked Choir. BBC2 9pm.
If you've missed it, it's a gem.
Choral Stimulation to win.
